We’re thrilled for Ozone Coffee Roasters to be hosting the inaugural New Zealand AeroPress Championship at their New Plymouth Roastery on February 14th, 2015.

“As the exclusive NZ distributor of the AeroPress, we are excited about forming an event to find the NZ AeroPress Champion who we will fly to Seattle to represent New Zealand and compete in the 2015 World AeroPress Championships.

Located in our Bean Store, competitors will follow the World AeroPress Championship rules and format and competitors are permitted to compete with a coffee of their choice and any additional brewing equipment for their competition. The competition rules are available to view here

The head judge for 2015 is celebrated coffee royalty*, Tim Varney, who will be flying from Melbourne, Australia to judge with the three additional judges to be announced. First prize is flights and accommodation for the winner to represent New Zealand in Seattle at the World AeroPress Championships in April 2015 as well as the honour of being New Zealand’s first AeroPress Champion, with prizes for second and third place.

The acaia pearl scales are the official brewing scales of the NZ AeroPress Championships, and Black Dog brewery have come on board and will be providing their Brewtus coffee stout for the event. Further sponsors and event partners will be announced shortly.
